Development

Jan Brinkhaus has an understanding of automation systems that spans modules and disciplines. His broad knowledge enables him to design holistic solutions, implement them and guide others to implement them.

In 2008, he founded an engineering office specializing in data logging on machine tools.

The ToolScope product developed at that time was connected to a field bus with machine tools. By adapting the machine PLC and partly installing small software modules on the machine NC, data was decoupled from the machines and logged at high frequency. The products could be integrated into standard industrial networks in order to read data from them or import data into networks from there.

Skills from above references:

Managing Director, Development Manager
Java, JNI, C++,
Data visualization and interfaces with Swing,
Creation of customized Linux environments and kernels for embedded systems,
Siemens-SPS, Siemens NC, Simatic Manager,
Fieldbuses, Profibus, realtime Linux,
Linux shell scripts, Linux server services

Over the years, he expanded the data logger with functions for process monitoring, such as monitoring with tolerance bands, trend monitoring of characteristic values, monitoring of characteristic values against limits, signal filtering, process documentation, artificial intelligence and a script-controlled extension engine. He has written several patents.

Skills from above references:

Statistical data processing in Java/C++,
complex, operationally changing interfaces with Swing / partly JavaFX,
massively multithreading under Java, partly C++,
troubleshooting on/in JVMs,
neuronal networks (frameworks Neuroph, Encog),
PDF generation (framework pdfbox),
various Apache Java frameworks

He extended the devices with software, which made it possible to operate the developed devices from the control screen of Windows-based controllers and from Sinumerik Operate.

Skills from above references:

QT, TCP/IP, UDP,
Programming for Siemens Operate,
Programming for HMI Advanced

Jan Brinkhaus set up a development department in Bangalore at a group site in India, which worked for his company in Hanover as part of a Scrum team. He created the process designs for the distributed development between Hanover and Bangalore, introduced suitable ticket systems, was responsible for the optimization of the onboarding process.

As a product owner, he steered the resulting overall development towards creating a cloud environment in which the machine monitoring systems could write status data or access visualization software for machine status display.

Skills from above references:

Scrum, Product-Owner, development project manager, Distributed development

The understanding of automation systems across modules and disciplines enables Jan Brinkhaus to conceive holistic solutions, implement them and instruct others to implement them.
